This series has a sinister undertone, which was a response to the public outcry regarding Antony Gormley's "Event Horizon" public art installation. People were caught off-guard by the bold nature of the statues and they were often mistaken for "jumpers". At the time of their unveiling, emergency dispatch fielded many phone calls about suicidal people standing at the edges of buildings in the Flatiron District.
In the same vein of mistaken identity, I chose to accompany photos of the art installation with Beatles lyrics. These lyrics, when taken out of context, can be read as dark, foreboding, serious, or just plain silly. A single line, when stripped away from harmony and song, creates a new feeling.
